Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治連日吐血不止. 五靈脂爲末, 狗膽汁和丸芡實大, 每一丸, 薑酒化下. 不得漱口, 急進白粥, 不可太多. 《入門》

Translation

Treats vomiting of blood for days on end without stopping. Flying squirrel faeces powdered and bound with dog's bile into pills the size of a euryale seed; take one at a time dissolved in ginger wine. Do not rinse the mouth; quickly take plain congee, but not too much. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Flying squirrel faeces, which the tradition holds both moves and stanches blood, bound with bile — the one formula in the section that treats persistent vomiting of blood as stasis rather than heat or depletion. 不得漱口, 急進白粥 — do not rinse the mouth, take congee at once.
