Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

服之令人聰明. 龜板ㆍ龍骨ㆍ遠志(薑製)ㆍ石菖蒲 各等分. 右爲末, 酒調下二錢, 日三服. 《回春》

Translation

Taken, it makes a person clear of hearing and bright of sight. Turtle plastron, dragon bone, ginger-processed polygala, and acorus, in equal parts. Powder the above; take 2 don stirred into wine, three times daily. — Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Sin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Chongmyeong-tang with the two settling minerals swapped in — turtle plastron and dragon bone, the tradition's standard anchors for a spirit that will not stay put. The name locates it in a scholarly world where a formula could be attributed to Confucius and kept, as the title says, inside the pillow. Where the three-herb version clears the path, this one weights it down first. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
