Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治疝氣偏墜痛不可忍. 川練子肉五兩, 剉作五分: 一用斑猫十箇同炒, 去猫; 二用茴香三錢ㆍ鹽半錢同炒, 去鹽留茴香; 三用黑丑三錢同炒, 去黑丑; 四用破故紙三錢同炒, 留故紙; 五用蘿葍子一錢同炒, 去蘿葍子. 右爲末, 酒糊和丸梧子大, 溫酒下三五十丸. 《澹寮》

Translation

Treats mounting qi with one-sided sagging and pain past bearing. Toosendan flesh 5 nyang, cut into five parts: the first fried with ten blister beetles, the beetles then discarded; the second fried with fennel 3 don and salt 5 pun, the salt discarded and the fennel kept; the third fried with black morning-glory seed 3 don, which is discarded; the fourth fried with psoralea 3 don, which is kept; the fifth fried with radish seed 1 don, which is discarded. Powder them, bind with wine paste into pills the size of a firmiana seed, and take thirty to fifty with warm wine. — Damryo 澹寮 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

One medicinal divided into five parts and each part fried with something different, three of which are then thrown away. It is the chapter's most elaborate borrowed-force processing, and 4.26's Ochochollyeon-hwan and Sachochollyeon-hwan do the same thing with four and five. **Blister beetle is severely toxic; it is discarded and must not be taken.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
