Fortifies the Spleen and Stomach, advances eating, and disperses and transforms water and grain. White atractylodes 5 nyang; white poria, white peony, and ginger-prepared pinellia, 3 nyang each; tangerine peel, medicated leaven, hawthorn flesh, wine-washed Korean angelica, and cnidium, 2 nyang each. Powder the above, make a rice paste in boiled lotus-leaf decoction, bind into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take 100 pills with plain boiled water. — Piryong 必用 (Donguibogam · Naesang)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Atractylodes at five ounces with angelica and cnidium riding in the back — the Piryong remembering what the pure Qi tonics forget: a spleen that has been weak for years has quietly starved the Blood too. Bound, of course, in Dongyuan's lotus-leaf gruel. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
