Translation

Enriches the Spleen and nourishes the Stomach; disperses and transforms food and drink. Dry-fried medicated leaven, dry-fried barley sprout, pinellia leaven, tangerine peel, lotus seed, bitter orange husk, amomum, and licorice, 1 nyang each. Powder the above and bind with cooked aged rice into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds; swallow 100 pills with thin rice water. — Piryong 必用 (Donguibogam · Naesang)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The tonic cabinet's quietest member — not one classic tonic herb in the jar, the enrichment done entirely by ferments, a lotus seed, and old rice. For the spleen that wants tending, not treatment; the formulary equivalent of a good plain congee. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
