治冬溫發癍. 葛根ㆍ橘皮ㆍ杏仁ㆍ知母ㆍ黃芩ㆍ麻黃ㆍ甘草各一錢. 右剉作一貼, 煎服. 《元戎》

Translation

Treats winter-warmth macular eruption. Pueraria, tangerine peel, apricot kernel, anemarrhena, scutellaria, ephedra and licorice 1 don each. Cut up as one packet and decoct. — Wonyung 元戎 (Donguibogam · Pi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Seven medicinals in equal weight, half of them reaching the lung. Winter warmth is read as an unseasonable qi taken in during a mild winter and breaking out in spring, so the formula releases the exterior with pueraria and ephedra while apricot kernel and scutellaria settle the cough — the one formula in the macular group that treats the cough as much as the rash. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
