加減補陰丸

Pill formula, bulk amounts: powdered and bound with a paste of wine-steamed prepared rehmannia into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds; 70 pills with salted water on an empty stomach. Note on modern practice: tiger bone (虎骨) is prohibited under CITES and U.S. law; contemporary prescribing omits it, commonly increasing tortoise plastron in its place.

Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治同上. 龜板ㆍ黃柏各二兩七錢, 牛膝ㆍ兎絲子各一兩二錢半, 當歸ㆍ知母ㆍ𤨏陽各一兩, 陳皮ㆍ虎骨ㆍ山藥ㆍ白芍藥ㆍ縮砂ㆍ杜沖ㆍ黃芪(鹽水炒)ㆍ熟地黃各七錢, 枸杞子五錢, 破故紙三錢半. 右爲末, 以熟地黃酒蒸爲膏和丸梧子大. 空心, 鹽湯下七十丸. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats the same as the above [Hidden Tiger Pill pattern]. Tortoise plastron and phellodendron, 2 nyang 7 don each; achyranthes and cuscuta, 1 nyang 2.5 don each; Korean angelica, anemarrhena, and cynomorium, 1 nyang each; tangerine peel, tiger bone, dioscorea, white peony, amomum, eucommia, salt-water-fried astragalus, and prepared rehmannia, 7 don each; lycium fruit 5 don; psoralea 3.5 don. Powder the above and bind with a paste of wine-steamed prepared rehmannia into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds; take 70 pills with salted water on an empty stomach. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Heoro)
