Clinical commentary 臨床
**This must not be prepared.** Tiger bone is prohibited. The entry's interest is that it is Hogol-san reduced to its two supposed essentials, for the worst case the section describes — pain that does not stop day or night. When a formulary strips a twelve-drug prescription to two and raises the chief drug's dose by half, it is telling you which ingredient the compiler believed in. Ox or dog bone is the usual modern substitution and myrrh is the only part of this formula that has any demonstrable action. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
