Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治黃疸, 熱盛, 大便不利. 茵蔯二錢, 大黃ㆍ梔子仁ㆍ厚朴ㆍ枳實ㆍ黃芩ㆍ甘草各一錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 薑二片, 燈心一握, 水煎服. 小便不利, 合五苓散服. 《入門》

Translation

Treats jaundice with heat exuberant and the stool not free. Virgate wormwood 2 don; rhubarb, gardenia kernels, magnolia bark, bitter orange fruit, scutellaria and licorice 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, add 2 slices of ginger and a handful of juncus, decoct in water and take. Where urine is not disinhibited, combine with Five Poria Powder and take. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Hwangdal)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Injinho-tang with the Xiao Chengqi group — magnolia bark and bitter orange fruit — folded in, so that the stool is opened as well as the heat cleared. The closing instruction to add Oryeong-san where the urine is also blocked makes this a modular prescription: one base, two possible additions according to which passage is shut. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
