Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治黃疸, 小便不利. 茵蔯 三錢, 梔子ㆍ黃連 各二錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 水煎服之. 《入門》
Translation
Treats jaundice with urine not disinhibited. Virgate wormwood 3 don; gardenia and coptis 2 don each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Hwangdal)
Clinical commentary 臨床
Three medicinals, and the first is the one that runs through the whole chapter. Virgate wormwood leads sixteen of this chapter's formulas, and the pattern is consistent: paired with rhubarb and gardenia it treats yang jaundice, paired with aconite and dry ginger it treats yin jaundice.
