Translation

Treats a dysentery of pus and blood with inner urgency and dragging-down behind, abdominal pain with thirst, without number day and night. White peony, 2 don; tangkuei, scutellaria and coptis, 1 don each; rhubarb, 7 fun; cassia heartwood, costus root, areca and licorice, 3 fun each. Cut up, make one packet, and decoct in water on an empty stomach. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Jakyak-tang under another name and with the peony doubled, which is the Immun's answer to the extra sign in the indication: thirst. A dysentery with thirst is one that has begun to cost the patient fluid, so the formula holds its rhubarb to seven fun and leans on the peony. Of the section's three tenesmus formulas this is the one for the sickest patient. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
