Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治乳癰結核刺痛, 及潰後不合. 丹參ㆍ赤芍藥ㆍ白芷各等分, 剉, 酒淹二宿, 入猪脂半斤, 煎令白芷焦黃則膏成矣. 去滓, 入黃蠟一兩, 攪勻候凝, 每取少許塗之. 《入門》

Translation

Treats breast abscess with a hard core and stabbing pain, and one that will not close after it has opened. Salvia, red peony and angelica dahurica in equal parts, cut up and steeped two nights in wine; add half a geun of lard and simmer until the angelica dahurica is scorched yellow, and the paste is made. Strain off the dregs, stir in 1 nyang of beeswax, mix evenly and let it set; take a little at a time and smear it on. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Yu)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The angelica dahurica turning scorched yellow is the sign the fat has drawn the medicines out — the same test as the Nose chapter's Sesin-go. Beeswax at the end makes it hold its shape on the skin. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
