Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治産後陰脫. 黃芪(酒炒) 三錢, 人參ㆍ當歸ㆍ升麻各二錢, 甘草一錢. 右剉作一貼, 水煎服, 日三. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats prolapse of the yin after delivery. Astragalus (wine-fried) 3 don; ginseng, angelica and cimicifuga 2 don each; licorice 1 don. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take, three times a day. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Five medicinals, and the whole of it is Bojungikgi-tang's raising group without the rest. Cimicifuga at two don — a quarter of the total weight — is unusually high, and it is doing the work the name implies. 陰脫, prolapse of the yin, is genital prolapse following delivery, and the chapter's reading is that the qi that should hold has given way rather than that anything is wrong locally. **Postpartum prolapse requires examination; complete uterine prolapse or vaginal wall injury needs surgical assessment.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
