Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治産後風痓. 荊芥穗(微炒)ㆍ當歸身尾各等分. 右爲末, 每三錢, 豆淋酒調下. 《入門》

Translation

Treats wind tetany after delivery. Schizonepeta spike (lightly stir-fried) and the body and tail of angelica in equal parts. Powder them and take 3 don at a time stirred into black soybean wine. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

風痓, wind tetany, is the arched-back rigidity the Dampness chapter describes at 3.8.8 as following a wound. After delivery it is puerperal tetanus, entering through the birth injury. Schizonepeta spike appears again as the chapter's chief medicinal for a postpartum crisis — it carries the blood collapse formulas at 1.29.2 as well. **Puerperal tetanus is fatal without antitoxin and intensive care.
