Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治久痢滑數, 消瘦困弱. 龍骨ㆍ附子(炮)ㆍ白礬(枯)ㆍ肉豆蔲(煨)ㆍ牡礪(煆)ㆍ訶子皮ㆍ酸石榴皮各一兩, 良薑ㆍ乾薑ㆍ赤石脂各七錢半, 細辛三錢七分半. 右爲末, 醋糊和丸梧子大, 粟米飮下三十丸. 《入門》

Translation

Treats an enduring dysentery slippery and frequent, with wasting, exhaustion and weakness. Dragon bone, blast-fried aconite, calcined alum, nutmeg roasted in dough, calcined oyster shell, chebula rind and pomegranate rind, 1 nyang each; lesser galangal, dried ginger and halloysite, 7.5 don each; asarum, 3 don 7 fun 5 ri. Powder, make pills with vinegar paste the size of a paulownia seed, and take thirty in a decoction of foxtail millet. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Eleven drugs, almost all of them astringent or warm, and the name says what it is for: cutting off the flow downward in a patient who is wasting from it. Four mineral binders — dragon bone, alum, oyster shell, halloysite — with two rind astringents and the warm aconite-and-ginger group. It is the most thorough arresting formula in the chapter, and the indication is the stage at which arresting the loss has become the whole of the treatment. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
