Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

糯米 百粒, 石灰 拇指大, 巴豆 三粒 去殼硏. 右爲末, 入磁甁同窨三日, 以竹簽挑粟許點上, 自然蝕落. 《綱目》

Translation

A hundred grains of glutinous rice, a piece of lime the size of a thumb, and three croton kernels shelled and ground. Powder them, put them in an earthen bottle and let them cure together for three days; lift out a grain's worth on a bamboo splinter and dot it on, and the mole is eaten away and falls off of itself. — Uihak Gangmok 綱目 (Donguibogam · Pi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Three ingredients cured together in a sealed jar for three days, which is what makes it work — the lime and the croton oil react on the rice over those days into something caustic enough to take skin off. A grain's worth on a bamboo splinter is the whole dose. **Contains caustic lime and croton. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
