Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治熱脹. 厚朴三錢, 枳實一錢半, 大黃ㆍ甘草各一錢, 桂心五分. 右剉, 作一貼, 薑五棗二, 煎服. 《得效》

Translation

Treats heat distension. Magnolia bark 3 don, bitter orange fruit 1.5 don, rhubarb and licorice 1 don each, cinnamon heart 5 pun. Cut up, make one packet, add 5 slices of ginger and 2 jujubes, decoct and take. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Changman)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Zhongjing's Houpo Qiwu Tang, which is Houpo Sanwu Tang with Guizhi-tang folded into it. Cinnamon heart at five pun in a heat formula is the point of interest — a small warm medicinal kept in so that the purge does not chill the centre it is meant to free. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
