Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治孕婦傷寒發癍變黑. 梔子ㆍ大靑ㆍ黃芩各一錢半, 升麻一錢, 杏仁八分. 右剉作一貼, 入葱白三莖, 水煎服. 《入門》

Translation

Treats a pregnant woman's cold-damage macular eruption turning black. Gardenia, isatis and scutellaria 1 don 5 pun each; cimicifuga 1 don; apricot kernel 8 pun. Cut up as one packet, add 3 scallion stalks, and decoct in water. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Pi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The formula kept for pregnancy, and what it leaves out is the point: no rhinoceros horn, no coptis, no gypsum — nothing of the heavy cold apparatus used elsewhere in the section. Three cooling drugs, cimicifuga to vent, and scallion to open the surface.
