Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治肺熱上攻, 白睛腫脹, 日夜疼痛. 桑白皮ㆍ片芩ㆍ甘菊ㆍ枳殼ㆍ防風ㆍ荊芥ㆍ柴胡ㆍ升麻ㆍ赤芍藥ㆍ當歸尾ㆍ玄參ㆍ苦參ㆍ白蒺藜ㆍ木賊ㆍ旋覆花ㆍ甜葶藶子ㆍ甘草各五分. 右剉作一貼, 水煎, 食後服. 《醫鑑》

Translation

Treats lung heat attacking upward with the white of the eye swollen and distended and pain day and night. Mulberry root bark, scutellaria, chrysanthemum, bitter orange, saposhnikovia, schizonepeta, bupleurum, cimicifuga, red peony, the tails of Korean angelica, scrophularia, sophora root, tribulus, horsetail, inula flower and sweet pepperweed seed, and licorice, 5 pun each. Clinical commentary 臨床

The white of the eye belongs to the qi wheel and the qi wheel to the lung, so a swollen sclera is treated at the lung — mulberry root bark, inula and pepperweed seed, three drugs from the cough pharmacy, used here without any respiratory complaint.
