Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治渴而小便閉. 猪苓ㆍ通草各一錢半, 赤茯苓ㆍ澤瀉ㆍ燈心ㆍ車前子各一錢, 萹蓄ㆍ木通ㆍ瞿麥各七分, 琥珀五分. 右剉, 作一貼, 空心水煎服. 《東垣》

Translation

Treats thirst with blocked urination. Polyporus and tetrapanax 1 don 5 pun each; red poria, alisma, juncus and plantain seed 1 don each; knotgrass, akebia and dianthus 7 pun each; amber 5 pun. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take on an empty stomach. — Dongwon 東垣 (Donguibogam · Sobyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Dongwon's rule at 1.7: thirst with blocked urine is heat in the lung, the upper source of the water; no thirst is heat in the lower burner. This formula answers the first and Jasin-hwan the second.
