Translation

Treats wind, damp and heat one-sided or full headache. Scutellaria 3 nyang, half of it raw and half wine-fried; licorice (mix-fried) 1 nyang 5 don; saposhnikovia, notopterygium and coptis (wine-fried) 1 nyang each; bupleurum 7 don; chuanxiong 5 don. Powder them and take 2 don at a time stirred into clear tea to a paste; at bedtime smear it inside the mouth and wash it down with a little plain hot water. — Dongwon 東垣 (Donguibogam · Du)

Clinical commentary 臨床

臨臥抹口內 — smeared inside the mouth at bedtime rather than swallowed as a decoction, so it works slowly through the night. Dongwon's best-known headache formula, and the one later writers reduced to its chief at Socheonggong-go. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
