Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治肝經血虛, 有怒火. 白芍藥一錢半, 川芎ㆍ當歸各一錢, 柴胡八分, 山梔仁ㆍ牡丹皮各四分. 右剉, 水煎服. 《入門》

Translation

Treats blood vacuity of the liver channel with the fire of anger. White peony 1 don 5 pun; chuanxiong and angelica 1 don each; bupleurum 8 pun; gardenia kernel and moutan bark 4 pun each. Cut up, decoct in water and take. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Gan)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Samul-tang without the rehmannia, and three cooling medicinals in its place — bupleurum to release the liver, gardenia and moutan to cool what it releases. 有怒火, with the fire of anger: the patient is short-tempered because the liver's blood is too little to hold its fire, and the formula feeds the blood while it cools the fire. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
