Translation

Treats pain of the stomach duct right at the heart. The classic says: where cold qi lodges between the intestines and stomach there is sudden pain, and getting heat ends it; this medicine governs it. Aconite (blast-fried) 2 don; dried ginger (blast-fried) 1 don 5 pun; tsaoko, alpinia oxyphylla, white peony (wine-fried), ginseng, licorice (mix-fried) and cinnamon 1 don each; evodia, white atractylodes and tangerine peel 5 pun each. Cut up, make one packet, add 3 slices of ginger and 2 jujubes, decoct in water and take. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Hyung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

得熱則已 — it stops when it gets heat. 1.6 is the chapter's most useful section and this is its first test: a pain eased by a hot drink or a warm hand is cold, and one made worse by them is not. **Contains aconite, which is toxic.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
