Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治濕熱黃疸. 茵蔯二錢, 赤茯苓ㆍ澤瀉ㆍ猪苓各一錢, 黃連ㆍ黃芩ㆍ梔子ㆍ防己ㆍ白朮ㆍ蒼朮ㆍ陳皮ㆍ靑皮ㆍ枳實各五分. 右剉, 作一貼, 水煎服. 一名茯苓除濕湯. 《寶鑑》

Translation

Treats damp heat jaundice. Virgate wormwood 2 don; red poria, alisma and polyporus 1 don each; coptis, scutellaria, gardenia, stephania, white atractylodes, atractylodes lancea, tangerine peel, green tangerine peel and bitter orange fruit 5 pun each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take. Also called Bokryeong Jeseup-tang. — Bogam 寶鑑 (Donguibogam · Hwangdal)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The section at 5.10 states the general principle it answers: in jaundice the spleen receives damp heat which is depressed and will not move, and there is often abdominal distension besides; the essential of treatment is to course and conduct the damp heat out through the two passages. This is that principle in its most balanced form — the Oryeong-san group draining, the three cold medicinals clearing, and the two atractylodes drying, none of them dominant. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
