Half Raw Half Cooked Water

Bansaengbansuk-tang

한글 반생반숙탕  ·  Pinyin Ban Sheng Ban Shu Tang

半生半熟湯

The leaf prints 隂 for 陰. The Internal Damage chapter carries the same water under the name 陰陽湯 with 1 hop of salt added, registered as eumyang-tang; this leaf is the plain mixture without salt, and the Cholera chapter's 生熟湯 is the same again.

Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

卽百沸湯與新汲水 各一椀, 相和飮之, 卽吐. 名曰陰陽湯. 《本草》

Translation

That is, one bowl each of much-boiled water and newly drawn water, mixed together and drunk, upon which vomiting follows. It is called Eumyang-tang. — Boncho 本草 (Donguibogam · To)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The whole of the Vomiting chapter's simplest method: a bowl of boiled water and a bowl of cold water in one cup, drunk off at once. Half raw and half cooked is what the name says, and the second name, Yin and Yang Decoction, says what was thought to be happening — two opposites joined in the stomach, which was held to stir it until it turned over. What is actually being described is about a pint of lukewarm water swallowed quickly, which will sometimes make a person retch and will not reliably empty a stomach. **Inducing vomiting is no longer recommended in poisoning and is dangerous where consciousness is impaired or where a corrosive has been swallowed.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
