Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治漏睛膿出. 白薇五錢, 防風ㆍ羌活ㆍ白蒺藜(炒)ㆍ石榴皮各二錢半. 右爲末, 米粉糊和丸梧子大, 白湯下三十丸. 《得效》

Translation

Treats the leaking eye with pus coming out. Cynanchum 5 don; saposhnikovia, notopterygium, tribulus (stir-fried) and pomegranate rind 2 don 5 pun each. Powder them, bind with a rice-flour paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take thirty down with plain hot water. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A leaking eye is a chronically infected tear sac draining pus at the inner corner, and pomegranate rind in the formula is the telling ingredient — strongly astringent, used here to close what is weeping.
