Translation

Treats wine halted in the chest and diaphragm, the face turned sallow-dark, an aggregation illness about to form, and daily gradual wasting. One who intends to drink, taking this first, does not become drunk. Fresh ginger 1 geun (peeled, sliced, cured overnight in 2 nyang of salt, and baked dry); red tangerine peel and dried ginger, 3 nyang each; blast-fried curcuma, blast-fried sparganium, and roasted licorice, 2 don each; aucklandia and dry-fried fennel, 1 don each; clove 50 pieces; amomum and white cardamom, 30 grains each; alpinia 20 grains. Powder the above, work with honey, divide each nyang into five pills, and coat with cinnabar; chew finely and send down with a ginger decoction. — Yeokro 易老 (Donguibogam · Naesang)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A pound of ginger cured overnight in salt — the drinker's stomach re-armored in advance, with the breaking pair standing by for the aggregation already forming behind the darkening face. The name promises a hundred cups; the indication quietly describes what a hundred cups have already begun to cost. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
