Moisten Dryness Decoction (Dryness)

Yunjo-tang

한글 윤조탕 (조문)  ·  Pinyin Run Zao Tang

潤燥湯

The Bogam names 潤燥湯 in the Stool chapter without giving its composition separately; it is the alternative name the Dansim gives for 當歸潤燥湯, registered on this site under that name. This entry exists so that the name can be found, and the five drugs listed with it in the Stool chapter are recorded here.

Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

虛則宜滋養陰血ㆍ潤燥散結, 如當歸ㆍ地黃ㆍ桃仁ㆍ麻仁ㆍ條芩ㆍ潤燥湯之類是也. 《丹心》

Translation

For vacuity the yin blood should be enriched and nourished and the dryness moistened and the binding dispersed, as with tangkuei, rehmannia, peach kernel, hemp seed, scutellaria and Yunjo-tang. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A name rather than a formula: the Bogam uses 潤燥湯 in the Stool chapter's vacuity-constipation passage, and the Dansim elsewhere gives it as the alternative title of Danggui-yunjo-tang. The five drugs the Stool chapter lists beside the name are the moistening core shared by every formula in that family, and they are recorded here so a reader meeting the short title can find their way to the full one. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
