Translation

Treats phlegm accumulation with qi stagnation, and phlegm cough; excels at downbearing phlegm. Tangerine peel 1 geun, white pith removed; salt 2 nyang, dissolved in water and boiled with the peel until soft, then dry-roasted; licorice 2 nyang, mix-fried. Powder them, make pills with steamed cake soaked in hot water, the size of a firmiana seed, and take thirty to fifty down with plain hot water. — Piryong 必用 (Donguibogam · Damum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Three ingredients, and one of them is salt. Removing the white pith strips tangerine peel of its moistening, spleen-harmonizing side and leaves the acrid aromatic fraction that moves qi; boiling that in salt water then turns the whole thing downward. This is the parent of Augmented Moisten and Downbear Pill at 6.5.4.2, which keeps the same salt-boiled core and adds arisaema and the bitter colds on top. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
