Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治諸氣心腹刺痛. 香附子二兩, 烏藥一兩, 沈香ㆍ甘草各二錢半. 右爲末, 每一錢, 沸鹽湯點服. 《局方》

Translation

Treats any qi with stabbing pain of the heart and abdomen. Cyperus 2 nyang; lindera 1 nyang; aloeswood and licorice 2 don 5 pun each. Powder them and take 1 don at a time sprinkled into boiling salt decoction. — Hwaje Gukbang 局方 (Donguibogam · Gi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Osim-tang with cyperus in place of ginseng — the same lindera and aloeswood, but the formula moves rather than holds. 小, minor, is for the milder case and the patient who does not need supplementing. Four don of aloeswood in a batch of this size is a pinch, and the Gukbang's practice of giving a costly medicinal in a small proportion runs through the whole section. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
