Translation

Treats the yin-yang exchange pattern. Take a piece of undergarment from next to the genitals, four or five chi square, burn it so as to retain its nature, and take 1 don stirred into warm water, three times a day. The urine then passes freely, the glans swells slightly, and the patient is cured. Men and women use each other's. — Immun 入門 ○ Another formula: twenty pieces of human finger and toe nail, burnt to ash and powdered, taken stirred into rice water, with the same effect. — Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Han, lower)

Clinical commentary 臨床

**This is not a formula to prepare.** Yin-yang exchange is the Bogam's name for illness passed between a convalescent and their partner through intercourse, and the remedy follows a sympathetic logic rather than a pharmacological one: what carried the disease across is burnt and given back, and the partners use each other's garment. The expected signs — urine passing, the glans swelling slightly — are read as the heat finding its way out. It is worth recording because the disease category it belongs to is a real observation about convalescence and transmission, however the treatment reasons about it. Nothing here should be made. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
