Translation

Supplements Heart and Liver vacuity, with spirit and will unquiet and sleep unquiet on lying down. The Inner Classic says: some viscus has been damaged and the affects lean toward something; the person cannot know what their illness is, and so lying down brings no ease. Fossilized tooth, separately ground, 2 nyang; prepared rehmannia, white poria, hostwood poria, dry-fried sour jujube seed, ginseng, cinnamon bark, pearled ass-hide glue, polygala sprinkled with wine and steamed, Korean angelica, astragalus, arborvitae seed, and calcined fluorite separately ground, 1 nyang each; cinnabar 5 don. Powder the above and bind with honey into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds; take 30–40 pills with a jujube decoction. — Gukbang 局方 (Donguibogam · Sin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Fourteen ingredients called friends, and the source states its rationale by quoting the Inner Classic — a viscus damaged, the affects leaning toward something, and **the person cannot know what their illness is; then lying down brings no ease.** That is the same passage the Dreams chapter builds its section on unquiet lying around, and finding it here as a formula's preamble shows how closely the two chapters were meant to be read together. Fossilized tooth and fluorite anchor; the rest supplies what the Heart and Liver have spent. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
