Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治經候不調, 及血氣攻注, 腹脇疼痛, 積聚成塊, 及婦人諸疾. 琥珀ㆍ當歸各一兩, 沒藥ㆍ乳香各二錢半, 辰砂ㆍ木香ㆍ麝香各一錢. 右爲末, 滴水爲丸, 每兩作十五丸, 每一丸, 溫酒磨下. 《局方》

Translation

Treats the menstrual term out of order, and qi and blood assailing and pouring, with pain of the abdomen and ribside, accumulation and gathering formed into lumps, and the various diseases of women. Amber and angelica 1 nyang each; myrrh and frankincense 2 don 5 pun each; cinnabar, costus and musk 1 don each. Powder them and make pills with water drops, fifteen pills from each nyang; take one at a time ground down in warm wine. — Hwaje Gukbang 局方 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Amber leading with angelica, and the two resins behind them — the formula works on blood that has congealed rather than on qi that has bound, which is what distinguishes it from Eokgi-san above. 每一丸, 溫酒磨下 — one pill ground down in warm wine — means rubbing the pill against the vessel until it disperses, which is how resinous pills were taken. **Contains cinnabar, which is mercury sulfide, and musk, CITES Appendix I and prohibited in trade.
