Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治面寒. 升麻ㆍ附子(炮)ㆍ葛根ㆍ白芷ㆍ黃芪(蜜炒) 各七分, 人參ㆍ草豆蔲ㆍ甘草(灸) 各五分, 益智仁 三分. 右剉, 作一貼, 入蓮鬚葱白 三莖, 同煎服, 食前. 《入門》

Translation

Treats cold in the face. Cimicifuga, aconite (blast-fried), pueraria, angelica dahurica and astragalus (honey-fried) 7 pun each; ginseng, round cardamom and licorice (mix-fried) 5 pun each; alpinia 3 pun. Cut up, make one packet, add three stalks of scallion white with the rootlets, decoct together and take before food. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Myeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The mirror of the formula above — the same Seungma-galgeun-tang base, with aconite and astragalus instead of coptis and rhinoceros horn. 2.7.3's case is an old nun who could not face the wind, and the Immun warmed her centre first and then gave this. **Contains aconite, which is toxic.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
