Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治脾氣血氣, 血蠱ㆍ氣蠱ㆍ水蠱ㆍ石蠱, 腫脹似稍箕. 木香ㆍ沈香ㆍ乳香ㆍ甘草各二錢半, 川芎ㆍ胡椒ㆍ陳皮ㆍ人參ㆍ白礬各五錢, 桂心ㆍ乾薑ㆍ縮砂ㆍ茴香各一兩, 大茄(焙) 五兩. 右爲細末, 每二錢, 陳米飮調下. 《入門》

Translation

Treats spleen qi and blood qi, blood gu, qi gu, water gu and stone gu, with swelling and distension like a winnowing basket. Costus, aloeswood, frankincense and licorice 2.5 don each; chuanxiong, pepper, tangerine peel, ginseng and alum 5 don each; cinnamon heart, dry ginger, amomum and fennel 1 nyang each; aubergine (dry-roasted) 5 nyang. Grind to a fine powder and take 2 don at a time stirred into aged rice broth. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Changman)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Aubergine at five nyang is the largest ingredient and the strangest — it appears nowhere else in the chapters translated so far. Dry-roasted and powdered, it serves as the bulk of the preparation, with the aromatics carried on it. 腫脹似稍箕 — swelling like a winnowing basket — is the image, a belly flared wide and flat rather than domed.
