Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治寒濕. 蒼朮二錢, 附子(生)ㆍ白朮ㆍ厚朴ㆍ木瓜ㆍ甘草各一錢. 右剉, 作一貼, 入薑十片, 水煎服. 《直指》

Translation

Treats cold damp. Atractylodes lancea 2 don; aconite (raw), white atractylodes, magnolia bark, chaenomeles and licorice 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, add 10 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take. — Injae Jikji 直指 (Donguibogam · Seup)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Raw aconite rather than blast-fried, with ten slices of ginger — the largest ginger dose in the chapter — to moderate it. That pairing is deliberate: fresh ginger is the classical antidote to aconite poisoning, and using it as the envoy at that quantity is a safety measure built into the prescription. The section at 3.11.6 names the pair as the quickest way to treat damp: nothing equals raw aconite with atractylodes lancea. **Raw aconite is highly toxic and the margin is narrow.
