Clinical commentary 臨床

東引者 — those growing eastward — is specified for the peach twigs, and the same qualification appears for the wall earth in the Purging chapter at 8.7. East is where the sun rises and where the ascending yang is held to gather. This is the gentlest emetic decoction in the section: no melon stalk, no false hellebore, and the vomiting brought on by volume and sourness. Gardenia and mume do the work. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
