Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治虛勞, 補腎滋陰. 熟地黃ㆍ兎絲子各八兩, 當歸身三兩半, 肉蓯蓉五兩, 山茱萸二兩半, 黃柏ㆍ知母(幷酒炒) 各一兩, 破故紙(酒炒) 五錢. 右爲末, 酒糊和丸梧子大. 溫酒或鹽酒呑下五七十丸. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats vacuity taxation; supplements the Kidney and enriches the Yin. Prepared rehmannia and cuscuta, 8 nyang each; angelica body 3 nyang 5 don; cistanche 5 nyang; cornus 2 nyang 5 don; wine-fried phellodendron and wine-fried anemarrhena, 1 nyang each; wine-fried psoralea 5 don. Powder the above and bind with a wine paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds; take 50–70 pills with warm wine or salted wine. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Heoro)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Eight herbs and a clear hierarchy — half a pound each of rehmannia and cuscuta building the substance, cistanche and angelica behind them, and then a single ounce each of phellodendron and anemarrhena. Those two cold herbs at a fraction of the dose are the formula's judgment: fill this deeply and fire will rise unless something checks it.
