Clinical commentary 臨床

Named for the five kinds of steaming the chapter distinguishes, and built on the White Tiger frame — but with two hop of wheat and one of rice in the pot alongside the gypsum. Those grains are not filler: in a patient wasted by months of fever, a cold formula given alone would finish what the illness started, and the tradition puts the food in the decoction rather than beside it. Wheat in particular is the classical grain for a restless, sweating, hollow patient. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
