Translation

Treats steaming-bone heat with heat of the flesh, and every kind of vacuity vexation. Lycium root bark 4 don; saposhnikovia 2 don; ginseng, licorice, and mint, 1 don each. Cut the above, make one packet, add 5 bamboo leaves and 3 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take. — Gyeongheom 經驗 (Donguibogam · Hwa)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Four don of lycium root bark and everything else in support — the simplest of the steaming-bone formulas, and the one to reach for when the fever is not severe but the restlessness is constant. Saposhnikovia and mint are unusual company for a cooling formula; they are there because heat that steams outward through the flesh needs a way out of the surface, not only a coolant in the interior. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
