Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治驚氣入心, 瘖不能言. 密陀僧, 硏極細末, 每一錢, 茶淸調下. 一方, 以熱酒調下. 有熱者, 麝香湯調下. 昔有人爲虎蛇所驚, 久瘖, 服此卽愈. 《虞世》

Translation

Treats fright qi entering the heart with muteness and inability to speak. Litharge, ground to the finest powder; take 1 don at a time stirred into clear tea. One version takes it stirred into hot wine; where there is heat, stirred into musk decoction. Clinical commentary 臨床

One mineral, and the whole of the chapter's treatment for a person struck dumb by a shock. 為虎蛇所驚, frightened by a tiger and a snake — the case that carried the formula, and the reason the tradition kept a single-ingredient remedy for a condition it otherwise treated with fifteen. **Litharge is lead monoxide and is severely toxic.
