Sesame and Croton Paste

白蠟, insect wax, and 羊蹄根, dock root, are both entered above; both were unregistered when this entry was first written. The wax carries a weight of its own, 却入白蠟 五錢, and is what makes the paste a 膏; the dock root is the chief drug of the appended 丹心 method, whose alum and vinegar were already entered without it. The second clause is a separate 丹心 prescription appended to the leaf, not part of the paste.

Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
通治諸癬. 麻油 二兩, 入巴豆肉ㆍ萆麻子肉 各十四粒, 斑猫 七粒, 熬煎至枯黑色, 去滓, 却入白蠟 五錢, 蘆薈末 三錢, 攪勻成膏, 塗擦之. 《入門》 ○遍身生癬, 獨莖羊蹄根另搗, 白礬末, 以米醋調成膏塗擦之, 加輕粉ㆍ黃丹尤妙. 《丹心》
Translation
A general treatment for all the tineas. Sesame oil 2 nyang; put in croton kernels and castor bean kernels 14 grains each and blister beetle 7 grains, boil them down until charred black, strain off the dregs, then add white wax 5 don and powdered aloe 3 don, stir it evenly into a paste and smear and rub it on. — Uihak Immun 入門 ○ For tinea over the whole body: pound single-stemmed dock root separately, with powdered alum, work it up with rice vinegar into a paste and smear and rub it on; adding calomel and litharge makes it better still. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Jechang)
