Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治左脇肋刺痛. 枳實ㆍ川芎 各五錢, 甘草 二錢半. 右爲末, 每二錢, 薑棗湯調下. 《入門》

Translation

Treats stabbing pain in the left flank and ribs. Immature bitter orange and chuanxiong 5 don each; licorice 2 don 5 pun. Powder them and take 2 don at a time stirred into ginger and jujube decoction. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Hyeop)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Three medicinals for the left side, three for the right at Chugi-san — the chapter's pair, and the difference is chuanxiong against turmeric. The left is the liver's and belongs to blood; the right is the lung's and belongs to qi. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
