Translation

Treats vacuity taxation with visiting heat, tidal heat, night sweats, phlegm cough, and expectoration of pus and blood. Butter-roasted turtle shell 1.5 don; asparagus root 1 don; large gentian, bupleurum, lycium root bark, and dried raw rehmannia, 0.7 don each; mulberry root bark, pinellia, anemarrhena, aster root, astragalus, red peony, and licorice, 0.5 don each; ginseng, white poria, and platycodon, 0.3 don each. Cut the above, make one packet, decoct in water and take. — Deukhyo 得效 (Donguibogam · Heoro)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Named for its two gentlest members, led in fact by its fiercest — turtle shell at triple rank with gentian and lycium bark, the classic steaming-bone brigade, while ginseng and astragalus wait at the smallest doses to catch what's left of the qi when the fever finally breaks. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
