Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治狂疾. 黃芩二兩, 黃連ㆍ生地黃ㆍ知母各一兩, 甘草五錢. 右剉, 每五錢, 水煎服. 《脉訣》

Translation

Treats manic illness. Scutellaria 2 nyang; coptis, raw rehmannia, and anemarrhena, 1 nyang each; licorice 5 don. Cut the above; take 5 don each time, decocted in water. — Maekgyeol 脉訣 (Donguibogam · Sin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Five herbs, and the two moistening ones are what distinguish it — raw rehmannia and anemarrhena, so that draining the fire does not leave the ground scorched.
