Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治臟毒. 黃連ㆍ黃芩ㆍ黃栢ㆍ梔子ㆍ連翹ㆍ槐花(炒) 各一錢, 細辛ㆍ甘草各五分. 右剉, 作一貼, 水煎服. 一名八寶湯. 《回春》

Translation

Treats visceral toxin. Coptis, scutellaria, phellodendron, gardenia, forsythia and sophora flower (stir-fried) 1 don each; asarum and licorice 5 pun each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take. It is also named Eight Treasures Decoction. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Hueum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

臟毒 — visceral toxin, which 5.16 distinguishes from intestinal wind by the blood: wind blood is bright and comes before the stool, toxin blood is dark and comes with or after it.
