Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治一切熱毒, 癰腫, 瘡瘍, 咬牙, 驚悸. 大黃ㆍ黃芩ㆍ黃連ㆍ梔子ㆍ滑石ㆍ黑丑<span class='sochu'>頭末</span> 各五錢. 右末, 水丸梧子大. 溫水下三四十丸. 《宣明》

Translation

Treats all heat toxin, welling abscess and swelling, sores and ulcers, grinding of the teeth and fright palpitation. Rhubarb, scutellaria, coptis, gardenia, talc and black morning glory seed <span class='sochu'>first powder</span> 5 don each. Powder them and make water pills the size of a firmiana seed. Take thirty or forty down with warm water. — Seonmyeongnon 宣明 (Donguibogam · Ha)

Hwangnyeonhaedok-tang with rhubarb, talc and morning glory seed added, so the heat is not only cleared but taken out through stool and urine. 咬牙 and 驚悸 — grinding the teeth and fright palpitation — are listed beside abscess and sores, which tells how the source read heat toxin: a systemic state showing at the skin and in the spirit at once.
