Clinical commentary 臨床

Garyeoreuk-hwan made into small pills, with clam shell powder in place of the sea-hare powder and processed pinellia added — the same six-drug design, swallowed instead of sucked. Where the lozenge was for the throat, this is for the chest: 肺脹氣急息重, lung distension with hurried heavy breathing, is a wheeze rather than a cough. 火鬱, depressed fire, is the chapter's name for a cough in which the heat cannot get out, and the formula treats it by opening with cyperus and pinellia while cooling with indigo — not by draining the fire directly, which is the usual move. **Contains pinellia, which is toxic in the raw state and must be properly processed.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
