Translation

Treats bladder replete heat with urine that does not pass. Mallow seed, red poria, polyporus, immature bitter orange, dianthus, talc, akebia, scutellaria, plantain seed and licorice 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, add 5 slices of ginger and decoct together. — Jesaeng 濟生 (Donguibogam · Banggwang)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Mallow seed, the slipperiest thing in the materia medica, at the head of nine more that open the water — the Urine chapter's whole armoury for retention in one decoction. Immature bitter orange is the one that moves qi rather than water, on the reasoning that a bladder that will not open is a qi that will not descend. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
