Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治産後痓. 生地黃一斤, 生薑十二兩, 各搗自然汁, 以生地黃汁炒生薑滓, 以生薑汁炒生地黃滓, 合焙乾爲末, 每三錢, 溫酒調服. 《入門》

Translation

Treats tetany after delivery. Fresh rehmannia 1 geun and fresh ginger 12 nyang, each pounded for its natural juice; fry the ginger dregs in the rehmannia juice and the rehmannia dregs in the ginger juice, combine, dry-roast and powder; take 3 don at a time stirred into warm wine. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

交加, mutual exchange, is the whole method: each medicinal is fried in the other's juice, so that the cold rehmannia carries ginger's warmth and the hot ginger carries rehmannia's coolness.
